The staff maintains an updated list of items
needed for the site that we are not able to afford. All donations to the
site are tax-deductible.
-
Folding Room Divider--This would be used to divide the projection
area from the rest of the visitor center. Our current fabric curtain
system is awkward to move aside and the repeated movement is pulling the
curtain rod's support straps out of the wall. The space to be covered
is 8' 10.5" H, 28'7" W.
-
New AV Program --The site's
current program dates to the late 1970s, early 1980s, has outdated and
erroneous information, and is a format that does not appeal to most
visitors.
-
Gravel for the Driveway to the House and the Visitor Center--Our
driveway needs gravel. It is currently very muddy and full of pot
holes making it unattractive and dangerous.
-
Hart House Stabilization--This historic house is unsafe for
visitors and is beginning to suffer from serious deterioration. If we
are able to interpret this structure, it will significantly expand the scope
of interpretation an extra 100 years. No other sites in the area
interpret 20th century sharecroppers' homes. If restoration is started
at this point, it will be less expensive than later efforts would be.
-
Paint Analysis for the Interior of the Bennehan House, Exterior of the
Holman House--Correct paint finishes enhance visitors' understanding of
what the historic house looked like when it was inhabited. Incorrect
colors lead to a false interpretation of history.
